Railway steam ahead

The Exchange Hotel challenged the Railway Hotel last Wednesday June 25 for the town darts cup.

No darts were played on July 02 owing to the State of origin match.

The team of Kathy Norris, ‘Chock’ Handcock, Kath Handcock, Peter Mason, Rod Harveyson, Pam Hutson, Richard Hockings and Colleen Handcock were up against the inform Railway Hotel team of Lain Thiel, Barry Bradtke, Murray Logan, Daniel Fanning, Terry Knight, Dave Thiel, Jeff Gardner and Tony Fenech.

With both teams vying for a double, the Exchange Hotel drew first blood when Kathy and ‘Chock’ (double 4) defeated Lain and Barry in the first game of 301.

The Railway hit back and won the next three games of 301 to make the score Railway 3 – Exchange 1.

Murray and ‘Fan’ (double 2) defeated Kath and Peter, Terry and Dave (double 14) defeated Rod and Pam and Jeff and Tony (double 1) defeated Richard and Colleen.

Barry and Lain (double 14) reversed their first round loss and won the first game of 501.

‘Fan’ (double 4) and Murray followed suit and took their second game for the night.

The Exchange pulled out all stops to win their second game with Pam and Rod (double 1) making up for their first round loss.

Tony and Jeff won the last game of 501 with Jeff jagging double 3 making the score Railway 6 –Exchange Hotel 2 and to retain the cup for another week.

All games were close and could have gone either way – but it was the Railway’s luck this week.

Best for the Exchange was Rod with a top of 92 and 80 and pinned a double; followed by ‘Chock’ with a top of 81and he too pinned a double.

For the Railway Murray topped the score on 108, followed by Jeff on 92 and Terry Knight scored 81.

‘Fan’ pinned two doubles and Lain, Dave, Tony and Murray jagged one each.

Tonight, July 09 the Royal will challenge, followed by the Criterion Hotel July 16, The Grenfell Bowling Club July 23 and Show No Mercy on July 30.

Players are reminded that darts commence at 7.30pm.
