Join in the fun for Fun Day

Club Pairs Championship

There were two games completed in the Major Pairs. Fred Katen and Keith Brus were against Rodger Baker and Tim Fowler.

This was a very close match with Fred and Keith slightly ahead early. However, after end 15 the match was tied at 13 all and it looked like a coin toss for a result.

Fred and Keith powered ahead and won every remaining end to win 21 to 13.

In the other match Brian Johnson (welcome back Brian) and Ross Hunter played Ron Gardner and Rob Chambers.

It was tied at 10 all after eight ends. After that Brian and Ross dominated to win 25 to 15.

In the Minor Pairs semi Hans Christoph and Jim Neill versed Scott Baker and Brenden McAlister.

Scott and Brenden flew from the start and led 13 to three after eight ends. Hans and Jim made a valiant effort but were unable to make up the deficit and lost 12 to 24.

Fun day Saturday

There is little support for the Saturday Fun Day at this stage. It will be played in mufti, cost is $6.00 entry and commence at 1.00pm.

There is a 14 end game – a hit the jack competition and a draw to the yardstick competition with each contest worth $30. Anyone can play so get your team of triples nominated as soon as possible. Entries will close at 11.00am Saturday.

Interdistrict match

There is a sheet on the board to indicate if you are unavailable for the next match against Western Districts.

Non-availability needs to be indicated before July 27, 2008. I believe the game is on August 10, but don’t know the venue.

Bits and Pieces

The jackpot required three shots on end four and the winners were Jim Sparkes and Quentin Murray who are now $66 each richer. The jackpot is now $47.

Thanks to the response from Kevin Reid and Dawn Anderson I now have only two annual reports missing.

These are 1995 and 1996. Can anyone help?

The History of the Grenfell Bowling Club

from the work of Betty Coleman.

As a tribute to the supportive women of the Bowling Club I have included this week the catering list for the Opening of the new Clubhouse on April 4, 1965.

The list was written by Phyl Monger assisted by S Mitton.

There were 327 men for a sit-down meal at lunch and over 600 people for the High Tea afterwards.

How would you like the job?

Morning tea 14 dozen scones
