The summer competition will once again be a mixed competition with a fee of $20 per person which entitles you to play all season and gives you insurance if there is an accident while playing touch.

ZONE 5 ’12 A SIDE’ FINAL SERIES
Last weekend Steve Galvin and Graeme Hunter travelled to Penrith as part of the Lachlan Valley District 12 a side competition.
For the uninitiated this is a district selected side to play against all the other districts in the zone – similar to Pennants.

20/08/2008 | UNDER 11'S SAVE BEST TILL LAST
The Grenfell Under 11s saved their best for last when they took on West Wyalong and Griffith at Lawson Park on Sunday.
The team of Will Brown, Will Peterson, Becky Eastaway, Dominic Fowler, Finlay Johnson, Henry Hunt, David Parsons, Corey Lock and Angus Wickham posed for team photos before taking on West Wyalong in the first game.
Becky opened the scoring with a try for Grenfell and this was quickly followed by a try to Will B.

Well the weather over the past week kept everyone indoors this weekend.
Not one sole braved the cold wet and miserable conditions to play in the weekend competitions.

The team to take on Red Bend were Lachlan Stevens, Matthew Ryan, Ethan Reid, Kyle Mawhinney and Jai Purdie.
Both teams consisted of only five players each which made it a very open field, which showed with both teams making ground.
15/08/2008 | This Sunday, August 17 at Lawson Oval, the Grenfell Junior Rugby Union will host Griffith and Wyalong in the last round of the Southern Inland Competition.
The day will commence at 10am and there will be plenty of rugby to view. Entry is free.
15/08/2008 | FSMCS Shield match this Sunday
The final round of the men’s No 2 winter night tennis competition was played on Tuesday and after the final sets were played, Stuart McKellar and Paul Tognetti emerged the winners of their respective grade.
15/08/2008 | Last Saturday saw the Panthers take out a hard fought win against Wagga Ag by 19-12.
The game was action packed with lots of free flowing rugby, a bit of push and shove and some heavy rain and hail which all made for an entertaining afternoon.
The game began with Grenfell kicking off deep into Aggies’s half.
13/08/2008 | Australian netballer Susan Pratley will help spread the word about the benefits of staying fit and active during a visit to four local schools on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Students from Cudal Primary, Molong Central, Quandialla Central and Canowindra Primary Schools will take part in a range of sporting activities with Susan as part of the Premier’s Sporting Challenge, which aims to promote the benefits of physical activity among young people.
13/08/2008 | Last Sunday thirty brave souls competed at the Grenfell Gun Club August shoot in conditions more suited to eskimos and arctic adventurers than trap shooting.Six squads from throughout the region competed for the Central Zone championships with some handy scores posted despite the hostile weather.

We held our annual open day on Sunday July 27, which was a great success with eighty players taking part, twenty of those players played for our local club which was a great effort and the winners on the day were a team skipped by Marlene Roberts from Forbes Sport and Recreation Club, the runners up were a team skipped by Max Steele from Parkes.
13/08/2008 | The Club Major Singles Championships commenced last Wednesday with three games being played.
Elaine Hocking being the first to advance to the semi-finals by defeating Coral Perceval.
Elaine was the first one to score and did for the first three ends, Coral then scored four to make the score eight to four Elaine’s way.
13/08/2008 | Junior State Finals
As mentioned last week Sam Brown and Bradley Galvin went to Roselands to play in the State Finals.
They were each part of the Zone Five side.
Sam played singles and won three out of the five matches and even led the Junior State Champion for the first half of their game.
8/08/2008 | INTERTOWN MATCH THIS SUNDAY
The final round of the Intertown competition is scheduled to be played at Grenfell against the competition favourites West Wyalong this Sunday 10th August, at the local complex. Selectors are pleading with players to make themselves available for this match.
8/08/2008 | Grenfell Panthers were defeated 36-17 by the Young Yabbies on Saturday.
The game once again lived up to all expectations with a tough physical game and both sides showing no mercy.
The game began badly for the Panthers with the kick off going out on the full and a scrum on half way with Young’s feed.
8/08/2008 | RUGBY LEAGUE UNDER 7’S
Last Saturday Grenfell Junior Rugby League traveled to Parks for Round 16 of the competition.
Grenfell Under 7’s were very enthusiastic and eager to hit the field. The boys got straight into, what turned out to be, a very competitive first half of the game.
8/08/2008 | Grenfell Bowling Club Under 6’s
Last Saturday saw the Under 6’s participate in the new small-sided game format in Young.
This is a new initiative from the Football Federation of Australia and will be implemented for all of the Under 6 and Under 8 teams next year.
8/08/2008 | On Sunday, Cowra 2 traveled to Grenfell to play the mighty Stingers.
I was concerned about the game after our last encounter.
