Porcelain painters descend on Grenfell
20/08/2008 | Last Friday Porcelain Painters from a wide area attended a workshop day at the Grenfell Country Club. There were twenty-one painters from Bathurst, Orange, Young, Wyalong, Dubbo, Parkes and Grenfell who worked with three tutors from Bathurst, Young and Grenfell.
Small School's snow trip
20/08/2008 | On Monday morning 4th August at 5-30am, students and teachers from The Young Small Schools departed Young. The schools combined for a Snow Trip to Mt Selwyn. This trip was a chance of a lifetime for some of the students who had never seen snow before.

15/08/2008 | City to Surf Grenfell was well represented in the annual Sydney City to Surf held last weekend. Old campaigner, Peter Moffitt lined up for his twelfth, along with his wife, Mary, daughter Emily, granddaughter, Isabel and son-in-law Brian.
15/08/2008 | The monthly meeting of our club was held on Tuesday, 5th August in the warmth and comfort of the Bowling Club meeting room with Vice-President George Walker in the chair and nineteen members present.

15/08/2008 | Grenfell CWA Evening Branch met with Grenfell Men’s Shed at the railway complex for the June meeting. Where ten members were present and apologies were received from eleven.

15/08/2008 | Jim McAlister – legendary shearer from Quandialla celebrated 50 years in the shearing game this year. Jim has plied his trade all around this big country but every for every year of those 50 that he has been in the business he has worked at Wanda and Ian Taylor’s “Mininjary” shed at Caragabal.

13/08/2008 | New and old writers of bush verse are again invited to enter the Blackened Billy Verse Competition, the most popular and highly contested bush poetry in Australia. The winner is awarded the much sought after Blackened Billy trophy as well as $400 in prize money. There are also cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd.
13/08/2008 | Last week’s column began with the announcement that there were ‘not many new books on display this week’ but in fact four boxes of new stock arrived on the Monday so the New Items display ended up being well-endowed.
13/08/2008 | As previously advertised in RSL columns the Grenfell Sub-Branch RSL will be holding a Service and Dinner to commemorate the battle of Long Tan, a very significant battle in the Vietnam War. In previous articles in this paper it was requested if you and your partner intended going to the dinner it was imperative that you booked yourself and your partner in, this is essential for catering purposes.
13/08/2008 | August 29 and 30 is coming upon us fast. The school student’s artwork and handwriting has now closed and has been sent out for judging. What a lot of wonderful work has come in this year. All the students and pre-school children who sent work for judging congratulations on the wonderful effort you have put into your work… well done.

The introduction and development of modern means of communication such as the internet, mobile phone, fax and emailing have enabled the peoples of the world to converse with each other in a manner that would have seemed like science fiction only just a few short years ago to anyone older than 15.
